Journey: Triple L Estate – Solomons Island, turn around at Zanhizers (sp?) – Triple L Estate
I thought we would have nasty storms all day — typical since we have O. It seems like we have gorgeous weather from Sunday through Thursday afternoon. We then pick up O and the weather turns punky.
This morning, however, Lori said the storms wouldn’t be in our area until later in the afternoon. Excellent. I wanted to take Olivia out again on the boat … simply to get her used to the boating life style.
We headed down river to Solomons Island. The river was FLAT, making our ride rather uneventful. Nothing wrong with that.
While underway it felt much cooler, almost slightly chilly … at least that’s what I told myself to forget about the mugginess hanging in the air.
We went into Back Creek as far as Zahnizer’s Marina before turning around and returning home. In Back Creek some bozo was heading into the creek at full throttle … in a no wake zone. We saw him again, still full throttle, in the Solomons Wharf area which is definitely no wake, 6 mph, zone. Where are the cops when you need them?O did fine on the boat. I like that our boat has high gunwales so as she occasionally walked around we didn’t have to worry as much about her falling overboard. She enjoys sitting in the bow area, especially on the forward seats. We just had to make sure she learns that those seats are ONLY for sitting. We are also teaching her that as she walks around to always hold on to the railings. She did quite well. Our concerns are: if she comes in the port door that we keep her from falling down the steps into the berth, and if she comes in the starboard door to keep her from touching any of the buttons.
What’s surprising is that she does not put up a fuss at all about wearing her life vest. I wonder if it’s because we spent the spring putting it on her in the house during play time so she would get used to having it on.
