► Too Hot To Party: July 22, 2016

FRIDAY 22 JULY 2016

post-7839-coast-guard-planeNoticed a sheen on the water definitely coming from the port engine. We tilted the motors all the way up, let them sit for several minutes before putting them down. Set engines so blocks were level. Oil levels the same on each engine and good. The oil looked good, not milky or any other indication of contamination in oil.

Started port engine – no puff, not smelling or seeing anything odd or unusual. Turned off.
Started starboard enine – nothing odd or unusual. Turned off.

Prior to an actual journey, I sat idling just off the end of the pier as Lori used blower to clean pier of glass.

Journey I: Triple L Estate – Cuckold Creek – Triple L Estate

post-7880-paw-prints

We did a run down Cuckold Creek at about 4000 RMP cursing at 28-29 mph. We kicked it up to 5000 RPM cruising at about 35 mph.

Journey II: Triple L Estate – Calvert Marina fuel dock – September Song, Calvert Marina – J and J’s, Battle Creek – Triple L Estate

We first headed to Calvert Marina fuel dock to fill the tank.

post-7877-mattmatt-upperhelmWhile we fueled, Matt took off the upper helm cover. He sat up there as we motored over to September Song. Eric and Rob had just arrived from Florida and we wanted to say ‘hello’. We visited with them for a while until around 6 or 6:30 ish when we decided we needed to make our way up to J and J’s Hospice fundraiser party.

post-7925-tommy-julieAs we neared Broomes Island point we noticed Tommy and Julie coming out of Island Creak. We ended up following them up the river and then rafting up to them at the end of J and J’s crowded pier.

Although we enjoyed the idea of listening to the music – it was just SO overbearingly hot, with NO breeze. We just couldn’t stand it. We made our donation – through a bid on one of the silent auction items – and headed home.

Julie came down to see us off… and see if maybe the water’s edge might provide a breeze. No luck. I think she really wanted to also go home. We offered her a ride but she shoes to stay with her husband.
