Journey: Triple L Estate – September Song, Calvert Marina, Solomons – Striped Rock, Solomons Island – Triple L Estate
My brother-in-law, Dave, passed away on Tuesday, so Mark and Bonnie are in town for his funeral tomorrow. Bonnie hasn’t seen our boat, yet, and of course wanted to go out on the water.
Our first stop was September Song in order to introduce them to Mark and Bonnie. We figured they would get along well. I uncovered the fly-bridge for the day. Mark sat at the upper helm with me on our journey to Solomons. As we approached September Song, being greeted by Bob and Stephanie, Bonnie stood at the bow with a shout out greeting, “A’whore matey.” Typical Bonnie.
We sat chatting for quite a while. As expected, they all got along well. Bonnie’s first reaction when she first entered September Song, “Wow, I could live on something like this.” Noting the kitchen, Bonnie pointed out that it was bigger than her sister’s condo kitchen in Arlington. I invited Bob and Stephanie to join us for drinks at Striped Rock. This would allow Bob and Stephanie to finally meet Matt. They had stayed with us last week and never once met Matt, so they were convinced Matt did not exist. They agreed to join us, wanting to follow us in Half Note.
Matt saw us arriving and came out to help catch lines during docking. We did our usual tie up at the end of the pier so our transom hung out past the end in order to avoid it hitting the pilings. We at first thought Half Note may have to raft up to our port side, in order to avoid the long distance needed to clamber up from their boat to the pier. They then determined they could make the climb up, so docked in front of us.
We sat out on the front patio in Matt’s area, ordered drinks and enjoyed some food. We had to cut the afternoon festivities at Solomons short because family – Debbie, Brenda, Frank, Bobbie, Chelsey, Susie, and kids – planned on coming to our house in the afternoon.
On the way home, Bonnie sat up on the fly-bridge with me.
