Journey: Triple L Estate – Solomons Yachting Center, Solomons – Striped Rock, Solomons Island – Jeannie’s – Triple L Estate
We decided to go over to Striped Rock for the open mic, outside bar, half-price appetizers, and most important – to see Katy. While captaining to Solomons Island, Lori noticed the fuel gauge showed only one bar of fuel remaining while the gauge read that we had used 112.6 gallons of gas. With that we decided we must first stop at Solomons Yachting Center for fuel.
As we pulled up to the fueling dock it seemed as though we had been invaded by the Midwest.
We tied up to the fueling dock; at rest the fuel gauge showed three bars. We began to speculate that most likely I forgot to 0 out the ‘gallons used’ gauge when we last filled. I added about 63 gallons, felling sure we had a full tank. This seemed to be the case as the fuel gauge also registered as full. We then resumed our journey to Striped Rock.
Along the way we passed a large vessel anchored along the way. I wish we could see the stern as I wanted to know its home port. I’m rather fascinated by the various boats that come to our area.
While enjoying our first drink, I texted Jeannie to see what she was up to and whether or not she was on the island… Solomons Island. She answered that she was at home enjoying a drink on her deck and invited us over. Lori had taken Sophie for a walk so I had to wait, looking all alone at a table with two drinks in front of me. When Lori returned she agreed to go over to Jeannie’s. What a nice treat.
When it started to feel late we decided to go home. I’m not used to traveling the back creeks of Solomons after dark, so I had to stay even more attentive than my usual attentive self.
We had a lovely, safe ride home.
