FRIDAY 19 JUNE 2015
We went up to Broomes Island in order to see Eric and Barry. Leaving our voce we saw a beautiful, older, wood boat passing Blackstone Marina. If you’re going to have a trawler, this would be a nice one to have.
When we went ashore at Broomes a couples sitting at a nearby table called us over to ask a few questions about the boat. They said, “Yeah, we admired you coming in. We saw how you handled the line and we could see it was not your first time doing this AND the gentle way you docked… VERY NICE,”
We spent the evening talking with friend and watching boats come and go. I will never understand ‘boaters,’ especially single-handed boaters, who come into a slip without having a single line prepped on a cleat. Some don’t even have a line out. Not until they are in a slip do they open a compartment, pull out a line, begin to unwind and untangle it before finally attaching it to the boat.
On the way home we saw Rick and Stefanie’s boat at Clarkes Landing so we decided to stop. We had a lot of fun. I spent most of the time talking with Katy’s mom, Kathy. She is fun.
