Journey: Triple L Estate – Stoney’s, Broomes Island – Triple L Estate
Time: 5:10 pm – 9:10 pm Engine Hrs.: 127.7 – 128.4
Conditions: very hot and humid; oppressively hot!
Vessel: 23’ Seaway
We had originally planned on driving to cornhole because we worried storms would roll in just when we would want to leave. Just before leaving, however, I received the magic text message: ‘Thomas Johnson bridge is closed in both directions due to an accident.’ Even if the bridge opened up soon we knew traffic would be screwed up for a VERY long time.
They most exciting thing about tonight, Lori’s name was drawn for the money throw. Although she did a good showing, she, unfortunately, didn’t make any in the hole. DRAT!
As we traveled down river we started to see lightning to our stern on the St. Mary’s County side of the river. Before we made it to the Clarkes Landing channel we had lightning to our bow and our stern. Seeing lightning flash around you while in the water provides increased incentive for getting home quickly.
