Journey: Triple L Estate – Club Billings – Triple L Estate
Time: 4:30 pm – 8:10 pm
Engine Hrs.: 103.0 – 105.0
Conditions: very rough water going down river
Vessel: 23’ Seaway
The boat received a nice cleaning today thanks to Lori and Jordan. We planned on going up-river to Club Billings as tonight is Golden Beach’s fireworks. When we departed, however, the boat began to sputter. We quickly returned to our lift. Swamp Boy assisted Lori in trying to determine the problem. They realized the fuel line had a kink in it. They took the boat out, briefly, and determined that the kink had caused the problem. Yeah, nothing major.
When we arrived at Club Billings I was surprised to see only a few people there rather than the cast of thousands that are usually there for Golden Beach fireworks. We sat and chatted for a while. Lori and Jordan wanted to return home before sunset since none of us were overly excited about needing to see fireworks.
I’m glad we left during daylight as we had a rough ride home. VERY ROUGH. We did see Coast Guard Auxillary during our ride home and again we were not stopped. (I’m not sure auxiliary actually pulls boats over.) It took us an hour to get home.
As we passed near marker ‘15’ I noticed how the osprey nest had nearly completed the marker. At night it would be next to impossible to spot the marker at night, even with a spot light. I hope someone tears that down once the osprey’s leave for the season.
When we arrived home a family of baby ducks swam around our lift. So very cute. I needed to get to shore, to use the facilities, but Lori and Jordan held the boat just off the pier in order to watch them swim around. Thanks a lot.
