Journey: Triple L Estate – Solomons area – Triple L Estate
I wanted to go out for a boat ride on the African Kween, mostly to see if it still ran as beautifully as last Wednesday. Lori had finished an afternoon of successful fishing on the pier and agreed to go. Jordan also agreed to go out with us.
In order to give him more captaining practice, I let him do 100% of the captaining. This included taking the boat out of the slip. Jordan made sure to note we had plenty of gas. Smart ass. (see July 17, 2013 post)
We headed towards Solomons Island as today marked the last day of Screwpile. Along the way we passed some interesting boats, including the Saltwater Soldiers boat.. We also passed Washburn Marina and noticed September Song still on the hard.
Once we reached Holiday Inn, we see the tents set up and music blaring – obviously celebrating Screwpile’s finale. Although I would have liked to tie up and check things out, Lori was still in her dirty work clothes and we decided to return home.
Time: 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Conditions: sunny; slight, pleasant breeze; waves less than 1 ft.
Vessel: 23’ Seaway fishing boat
