Journey: Triple L Estate – Solomons area regatta – Triple L Estate
I went out to watch the regatta for the first time this year. Unfortunately, there was very little wind. As Cheetah silently floated by prior to the start the captain stated he would have a nice spinnaker to unfurl.
Once all the race categories had started, I cruised near to the RC boat to ask what VHF radio channel they used (channel 72), and also the race course. When I heard TXTX I surprisingly commented, “Twice? That’s going to take a while.” They seemed to think it would be fine.
I followed the race until returned to the RC boat. During that time, the RC boat must have figured out that doing TX twice unrealistic because they had changed their stern flag to a white with a blue square in the center. That must have indicted end of the race. As boats passed by they continued onward to the island for the end of the evening.
As they quietly floated towards their slip, I returned home.
