Journey: Triple L Estate – Kingfishers, Solomons Island – Triple L Estate
Time: 5:50 pm – 8:30 pm Engine Hrs: 339.7 – 340.6
Vessel: Chaparral 260 SSi Bowrider
Conditions: HOT, storms in local viewing area, although marine warnings issued the water was actually quite calm
S and K Boxer came over after work and the four of us hopped in the boat to go out for dinner. I noted that the yellow wood boat was no longer anchored in the Molly’s Leg cove area. We then explained to S and K about the wood boat we had seen for the past few weeks.
As we entered the back creek area towards Kingfishers we noted a number of small sailboats on their way out to participate in the Thursday night small boat regatta. Since they have no motors I had to dodge them, which sometimes proved challenging, especially as they criss-crossed down the narrow channel.
As we neared Kingfishers we saw the yellow wood sailboat anchored in front of Bunky’s area. I made sure to get rather close in order to give S a closer look. We noticed that what we called the yellow boat’s beat up dinghy looked as though it was in the process of having its stern area repaired.
We then continued on to Kingfishers for a lovely dinner.
As we departed I made sure to go to the other side of Spark in order to show S the port side, complete with missing paint. S commented that a boat like that had better have an extremely reliable bilge pump.
